South Charlotte home tour to benefit charities

On May 9, Ashland Custom Homes will present the Building Communities: Cotswold Home Tour.

The tour will showcase four newly constructed or renovated Cotswold homes and benefit four local charities: Bee Mighty, Charlotte Rescue Mission, Friendship Trays, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Charlotte Chapter.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Cotswold Marketplace for $10 each.

Howie Webb, president of Ashland Custom Homes, wrote in an e-mail that “100 percent of ticket sales will be shared among four local charities, each of which will be assigned one home where they can set up and tell their story.”

None of the homes currently are for sale.

Webb and business partner Ed Riesmeyer have “always had a component of community building as part of our charter,” said Webb. “In the past, we have had homeowners tell us their favorite charity, and we would make a donation.”

This time, what started as a small idea has evolved into something more than Webb thought it would be, with local businesses pitching in.

“Leroy Fox is providing food, and the Cotswold Marketplace is staging a few rooms and selling all of the tickets for us,” Webb wrote.
